When the "cave woman" became forceful with the man that drug her around with her hair she took his club and turned the tables on him. At that time, his mother made the word mother-in-law a sour taste in a woman's mouth. He didn't like her mother and she certainly didn't like his.
As the world turned and evolved, dislike picked up some fear. Mixed together the wife wanted her house, her cooking, the children's appearance, their report cards, and a zillion other things that only a mother or mother-in-law could see or pick up on. I am telling this tale from a woman's perspective about a mother-in-law. What about HER mother? Nothing is more upsetting than her mother to arrive early, except that the mother goes to the basement and sees dust. The daughter points out that one of the children did not dust as was requested and the child answered, "but it was dark stuff." How can you argue with that? This grandma could care less about dust, all I care about is hugs that I don't get very often. My son-in-law is a great guy and always makes us feel very welcome. Thanks you two for a great birthday!
Thank you for coming! We loved having you. Xxoo
